Jiang Xiaoyu, vice-president of the BOBC (Beijing Olympic Bid Committee),
said recently that there exists the possibility for China Olympic
Committee and China Taiwan Olympic Committee to hold talks about
co-hosting some events of the 2008 Olympics.
On the question by a Taiwan reporter that what's his comment on
latest reports by some media that some events might be held in Taiwan
should Beijing succeed in its bid for hosting the 2008 Olympics,
Jiang replied that Beijing's bid focuses the collective desire of
the whole Chinese nation including Taiwan people.
Though he didn't yet come across such news reports, he admitted
there is the possibility for China Olympic Committee and China Taiwan
Olympic Committee to hold talks about co-hosting some Olympic events
by both sides.
Jiang also said that cities chosen for some Olympic events apart
from the hosting city must however first get approved following
a rule by the IOC.
