Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, said November 30 that Beijing will live-cast
the grand event via both TV and Internet should it win the bidding
of 2008 Olympic Games.
Liu, also chairman of Beijing Olympic Bid Committee (BOBC), made
these remarks during his meeting with Kerry Stokes, the executive
chairman of Australian "Channel Seven", which participated
in the TV broadcasting of the 27th Sydney Olympic Games.
Beijing is now making all-out efforts to build up a broad-band
network system in a move to provide the 2008 Olympics with cutting-edge
technologies in this area. People in every corner of the world may
enjoy the Olympics online, Liu said.
The "Channel Seven" delegates, who arrived in Beijing
November 28, have discussed with BOBC the design and TV broadcasting
of Olympics news center. They also visited CCTV and Beijing TV stations.
