Olympic table tennis champion Kong Linghui headed the Aces Cereal
Cup China's Top 10 Athletes for the Year 2000.
All the selected athletes were gold medallists in the Sydney Olympic
Games where China walked away with 28 golds.
Kong, 25, received more than half of the 771,850 votes from the
public in a nationwide poll run. Kong beat Swedish veteran Jan-Ove
Waldner to win the men's singles title in Sydney, completing China's
sweep of all four table tennis golds.
Following Kong on the list are Liu Xuan (gymnastics), Xiong Ni (diving),
Wang Nan (table tennis), Fu Mingxia (diving), Li Xiaopeng (gymnastics),
Zhan Xugang (weightlifting), Wang Liping (track and field), Tao
Luna (shooting) and Gong Zhichao (badminton).
