The Sports & Venues Department of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
Bid Committee (BOBICO) has so far received 20 credentials from international
sports organizations for single events.
According to sources from the BOBICO, starting from mid October,
officials from 25 international sports organizations for single
events including the International Shooting Federation have visited
and inspected Beijing. And up to now, the Committee has received
20 single-event credentials. They are sailing, table tennis, badminton,
fencing, modern pentathlon, basketball, judo, boxing, weight lifting,
track and field, taekwondo, triathlon, softball, hockey, archery,
tennis, volleyball, gymnastics, equestrian and swimming.
In accordance with regulations of the International Olympic Committee
(IOC), the five candidates for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games shall
have to submit their Bidding Reports before January 17, 2001. Prior
to this deadline, each single-event sports organization will have
inspected game and training venues in these cities, schedules and
capacity for receiving athletes, coaches and referees. Each of these
single-event sports organizations can credit the city capable of
hosting the relevant games.
