Mengke Bateer and Williams Nate combined for 64 points and 20
rebounds as the Beijing Ducks extended their unbeaten streak on the
season by beating hosts Dongguan Xinshiji 114-102 on yesterday
evening.
Menke Bateer nailed a game-high 49 points while grabbing 14
rebounds. He was 4-of-5 from the 3-pointer range in the win.
Williams Nate chipped in 15 points. Chen Lei and Jiao Jian each
added 11 points for the Ducks, who have won all the seven games so
far.
Anthony Miles posed a team-high with 36 points plus 11 boards
for Dongguan. But he only managed to shoot 2-of-10 from the
arc.
Wang Yong and Wu Songwei scored 22 points and 11 respectively in
defeat.
Beijing's Two Towers, Bateer and Williams, dominated the inside
play throughout the game as they helped the Ducks to lead
27-24 after first quarter, 58-48 after half and 83-75 after 36
minutes.
"We are by no means competitive in the paint, and they have two
guys under the ring, really hard to guard." Zhang Yongjun, head
coach of Dongguan, said after the game.
Beijing outrebounded Dongguan 32-21 in defensive boards, and it
has been the sixth consecutive loss for Xinshiji, who have only
gained one win by beating Jiangsu, 120-111 on their home court in
the 2nd round.
In other games on Wednesday, Shaanxi lost to Bayi 100-116, Jilin
beat Fujian 108-92, Shanghai outplayed Henan 119-100, Liaoning
trounced Yunnan 101-88, Jiangsu edged Shandong 93-88 and Xinjiang
beat Zhejiang 104-93.
