The team, comprising representatives from the Home Affairs Bureau and the Department of Justice, will attend the conference as members of the Chinese delegation.

A government spokesman said: "The United Nations General Assembly has declared the year 2001 the International Year for the Mobilization Against Racism. The presence of the HKSARG team will demonstrate the government's commitment to address the issues."

The team will attend meetings, seminars and workshops to exchange ideas with the international community and learn at first hand the views of the participants on racism.
