Beijing Invests in 50 Infrastructure Projects

Beijing will earmark more than 147 billion yuan (nearly US$17 billion) for 50 key infrastructure projects this year, after the completion of 67 major projects last year.

The ongoing 31 projects include the reconstruction of Guang'an Street, a wastewater recycling system, the construction of an architecture cultural center and a new library.

When all 50 projects are completed, Beijing will have an extra 86.4 kilometers of roads and streets, 42 kilometers of expressway and an additional 85 kilometers of subway and railway that will help ease the city's traffic congestion.

Beijing has invested over 45 billion yuan (US$5.4 billion) in the 50 projects so far, which is 30.78 percent of the total Investment.
