Li Tieying, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Wednesday with a delegation from the Chilean Party for Democracy led by its President Guido Lavin.
The CPC and the Chilean Party for Democracy established formal links in 1995, and since then, they have had constant exchanges.
During the meeting, Li, also president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, had a cordial conversation with the delegation members, who are here at the invitation of the CPC.
The purpose of the delegation's China tour is to further strengthen friendly relations between the two parties, and learn more about China's reform and opening-up and exchange views on how to strengthen the party building and improve government's administration.
In addition to Beijing, the Chilean guests will also travel to Xi'an and Shanghai.
