China to Build Paper Museum

A museum will soon be set up in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to show China's papermaking culture.

The museum has an investment of around 500,000 yuan (US$60,000), which was donated by a local farmer.

The museum will be built at Longting Town, the domain of Cai Lun (66-125) in ancient China, to mark his outstanding efforts in paper invention and papermaking technique.

Cai Lun engaged himself in the study of papermaking during his stay in the imperial palace of Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) as a eunuch.

In 105 AD, Cai Lun successfully invented the world's first batch of paper using fish nets, tree bark and rags. His invention has greatly contributed to the development of world civilization.
