The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government hosted a grand gathering Wednesday morning to mark the first anniversary of China's resuming of sovereignty over the territory.
Chinese President Jiang Zemin, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, is to give an important speech at the gathering, held at the Macao Cultural Center.
Macao SAR Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah will also speak at the gathering.
Jiang arrived in Macao Tuesday afternoon for the anniversary celebrations.
