Chinese President Jiang Zemin has written an inscription for Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the organization.
The inscription reads: "Carry forward the Fine Tradition of Loving the Motherland and Hong Kong, Safeguard Hong Kong's Long-term Prosperity and Stability".
Established in 1900, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce is an association of local Chinese firms, businessmen and professionals.
It has a membership of over 6000, representing a wide spectrum of trade and industry. It provides a variety of services including certification of origin, organization of seminars, exhibitions, trade missions and other trade promotional activities.
The Hong Kong CGCC, which has maintained close links with trade organizations in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland since 1957, has issued invitations on behalf of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair authorities to local Chinese firms.
