Scheduled October 5-8, the 2nd China Wudang Kongfu International Union Gathering will be held at Wudang Hall on the Wudang Mountain to mark the 650th anniversary of the founding of Wudang school of martial arts by Master Zhang Sanfeng back in history.
Best known two Wushu (martial arts) schools in China are "North Shaolin and South Wudang". The coming Kongfu gathering has been designed amongst others for varied purpose as commemorating the 650th birthday of Master Zhang Sanfeng, selecting 100 Wudang Kongfu masters and spreading Wudang Kongfu throughout the world.
The Preparatory Committee has invited from home and abroad fifteen famous Wushu personages including Jin Yong, Wu Bin and Li Jie to converse on the coming gathering. So far 28 teams composed of over 670 persons have signed to join in, including 231 foreign athletes from 9 countries including Australia, France, Malaysia and Japan. The rest are from over 20 areas in China. A total of over 1000 participants are estimated.
