Need to Combat Corruption in SOEs Stressed

Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, recently urged to strengthen anti-corruption campaigns in state-owned enterprises.

Wei, also president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), made the remarks during his latest inspection tour to north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The strike against corruption in enterprises will benefit further reform and development of the enterprises and help construct a modern corporate system, said Wei, who is mainly responsible for Party’s disciplinary matters.

Wei ordered leading officials in all the state-owned enterprises across the country to strictly abide by the discipline of the Party and the law.

Party organs and even judicial bodies should investigate leading enterprise officials who conduct ill-management and malfeasance in their organizations, Wei said.

In addition, Wei urged to promote the role of trade unions. Workers have the right, among other things, to take part in decision-making at their enterprises.
