Crowds of 60,000 are expected at the Second Shanghai Inter-national Festival of Arts and the 2000 Shanghai Tourism Festival next month.
A major fireworks display is set for Century Park in Pudong on October 29, November 1 and 4. The park will be cleared mornings to set up the show and opened in the afternoon.
About 400 overseas and local artists will perform until 7:30 p.m. when a half-hour of fireworks lights up Center Lake.
The fireworks show will be accompanied by Beethoven, Strauss and songs from Japan, China, France and Portugal.
Teams from Japan, France and Portugal will join a Chinese team to shoot off fireworks. Yves Relave, a French music fireworks expert, was invited to act as the festival's General Designer.
"Music fireworks is a kind of art, which requires harmony between the melody of music and the detonations," said 48-year-old Relave, General Director of the internationally acclaimed Montreal International Music Fireworks Festival in Canada. "I feel very lucky to find such an ideal place in Shanghai to shoot off the romantic music fireworks."
