The Office of the Commissioner of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Monday expressed concern about the 12 Cathay Pacific Airway staff members who were detained by Chechen gunmen in an Istanbul hotel.
A call from the Chinese embassy in Turkey confirmed that the incident has almost been settled down and the detained people have been released unharmed, according to a press release from the Commissioner's Office in Hong Kong.
The Commissioner's Office said the Chinese consulate in Istanbul will keep in touch with the Cathay Pacific staff and will offer them assistance if necessary.
The Commissioner's Office also pledged to watch closely the incident.
