A two-story school building in Wanzai County in east China's Jiangxi Province collapsed Tuesday morning, killing 41 people and injuring 27.
So far, 29 dead bodies had been found by 6 pm some of them said to be teachers.
A rescue team rushed to the school and an excavation is currently going on.
The collapse is caused by an explosion at 11:10 am, however, the cause of the blast is unknown.
Shu Shengyou, governor of Jiangxi Province, who is attending the national congress in Beijing, and other leading officials of the related departments at state or provincial level have hurried to Jiangxi to handle the case.
