Counterfeit Euro Banknote Found in Northeast China

A counterfeit 50 euro banknote was discovered on Thursday at a branch of the Shenyang Branch of the Bank of China in northeast China.

A branch spokesman said the note was found in notes presented by an unidentified Irish customer. It was the first counterfeit euro note found in China.

The customer who planned to deposit the notes said he obtained them from an overseas bank.

The spokesman said the fake note was apparently photocopied, and it looks dimmer and can easily be detected using an ultraviolet detector.
