A club for Ph.D.s, which aims to promote exchanges of technical achievements, and information about funding sources and to find talented workers, has been set up in this capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
Covering an area of more than 1,000 square meters in the Huanghuagang Information Park, the center will open after the Spring Festival, China's Lunar New Year, which falls on February 12, 2002.
Statistics show that Guangzhou now has over 3,000 professionals who possess doctorates or post-doc credentials.
Sources said the club is designed to serve as a bridge between the Ph.D.s and the government, entrepreneurs, and financiers.
Those eligible for membership include Ph.D.s, senior public servants, outstanding entrepreneurs and financiers, as well as people who have made special contributions to the club.
The club will hold symposiums, exhibitions of achievements of doctors and also provide consultations and other services to Ph.D.s who want to start their own businesses.
