Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji expressed sympathy and condolences on Thursday to the Thai government and people over the heavy loss of life and property in the widespread flooding in Thailand.
In a message delivered to Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Zhu said he learnt recently of the heavy causalities and property losses caused by the severe flooding.
"On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I hereby would like to convey deep sympathy as well as profound condolences to your Excellency, and through you to the people who have suffered in the flooding," said the premier.
Monsoon rains have deluged most of Thailand since early August. The flooding has claimed more than 100 lives so far, and the water is still rising.
