A 13-member delegation from the universities of China's Hunan Province suffered a traffic accident in central Pennsylvania of the United States on Tuesday (Beijing Time), leaving seven dead and three injured.
Right after the accident, Chinese President Hu Jintao immediately made inquiries and requested relevant Chinese departments to spare no efforts together with US side to care for the injured and make proper arrangements in the aftermath of the accident, sources with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education are now handling the issue. Officials from the Chinese embassy in the United States and the consulate-general in New York have already visited the site of the accident and the hospital to gather information about the situation and console the injured, according to the foreign ministry.
