White-goods maker Haier Group took the top position in the debut ranking of leading Chinese firms in the Far Eastern Economic Review(FEER)'s annual company survey: The Review 200: Asia’s Leading Companies, announced FEER in the award-presenting ceremony held Thursday.

The "Review 200: China Top 10 Companies" ranked for Overall Leadership are: Haier, Legend, China Mobile Communications, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, PetroChina, Sinopec, China First Automobile Group, China Telecom and Bank of China.

The list is composed principally of state-dominated industrial conglomerates in the power, telecommunications, automobile and steel production sectors, along with a handful of banks and trading entities, said the FEER.

According to the survey, the companies ranked No.1 in their respective countries and regions were Woolworths of Australia, Haier of China, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporations of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Infosys Technologies of India, Indofood Sukses Makmur of Indonesia, Toyota Motor of Japan, Genting of Malaysia, Jollibee Foods of Philippines, Singapore Airlines of Singapore, Samsung Electronics of South Korea, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company of Taiwan, China and Advanced Info Services of Thailand.

Meanwhile the survey also found out that the ten top multinationals working in Asia included Microsoft, Nokia, Sony, Coca-Cola, Toyota Motor, BMW, Intel, McDonald's, Nike and Samsung Electronics.

Computer software giant Microsoft remained the leading multinational company doing business in Asia for the eighth year running since the survey carried out ten years ago.
