FIFA Relocates Women's World Cup
This year's women's World Cup will be moved from China due to the SARS outbreak. FIFA says a new venue will be announced within a few weeks. The United States and Australia have expressed interest.

Soccer world governing body FIFA said on Saturday its medical committee advised against holding the event in China.

The tournament was due to take place from September 23 to October 11. FIFA says a new venue will be announced within a few weeks. The United States and Australia have expressed interest.

FIFA said the 2007 women's World Cup would be awarded to China.

Earlier, the International Cycling Union also decided to move the world track cycling championships from China scheduled for this summer because of the SARS outbreak.
