ASEAN Officers Observe Anti-hijack Drill

ASEAN security officers have agreed to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on regional security issues at the first Security Policy Conference of the ASEAN, which closed Saturday in Beijing.

On Saturday, ASEAN security officers also watched an anti-kidnapping drill conducted by Chinese special troops in Beijing.

The drill included fist fighting, weapons firing and anti-kidnapping drills.

They agreed that armies should play a positive and constructive role in the anti-terrorism campaign and at the same time abide by international laws and regulations.

A senior Chinese officer says China is willing to strengthen cooperation in anti-terrorism with ASEAN Regional Forum members.

The forum was established ten years ago, and has 24 members.
