Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union Alpha Oumar Konare arrived in Beijing on Sunday morning for a five-day official visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government.

Konare is expected to confer with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and meet other Chinese leaders.

Besides Beijing, Konare will travel to Xi'an, capital of northwest Shaanxi province, and Shanghai, the economic hub of China.
