The body of one more primary school student was discovered late on Sunday, bringing the flash flood death toll as at 6PM in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province to 92. Another 17 students are still missing, according to local rescue headquarters.
Earlier reports said that as of Sunday morning 91 had died in Heilongjiang and 25 others had been hospitalized.
The victims included 88 primary school students and four villagers from Shalan Town in Ning'an City, which was hit by heavy floods and ensuing mountain torrents on Friday afternoon.
Another 17 students are still missing, and rescue operations have been intensified, said an official at the rescue headquarters.
Seven out of 18 villages in Ning'an City have been damaged by the floods. About 1,333 hectares of farmland have been devastated, 55 houses collapsed and 1,800 villagers affected by the catastrophe.
Provincial Governor Zhang Zuoji and other high-ranking officials with the provincial government are guiding rescue work on the ground.
