China will restructure its domestic air routes, according to sources with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).
China will readjust and rearrange flights to promote reasonable competition among aviation groups, said Liu Jianfeng, director of CAAC at an aviation industry meeting Tuesday.
Meanwhile, China will strengthen management of schedules and flight areas of the regional airlines.
China will implement a key aviation network development plan. Beginning in the winter of 2002, flights via Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou airports to other cities will be banned. Eventually the three airports will only accommodate flights from provincial capitals, coastal open cities and major tourism cities.
