Taiwan freights can be transported to Shanghai via a new air rout as Macao starts to serve as another linkage city between Shanghai and Taiwan other than the previously only one-Hong Kong, the Jiefang Daily reported today.
The message came from an industry seminar held in Shanghai yesterday. Statistics released at the seminar show that Macao has served well in Shanghai-Macao airline cooperation which started two years ago in 1998, and that Macao is a qualified linkage city to carry out cross-strait airborne business.
Airborne travels and freight transports between the Shanghai and Macao has been increased tremendously. The previous twice a week timetable has changed to a once per day agenda. Bigger and more advanced Boeing 767 carries have also been added to the inferior 757 fleet to occupy the increasing passengers.
