China's civil aviation carried 7.14 million passengers during the Spring Transport Season, with an increase of 66,000 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest information from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).
The sector conducted over 83,000 flights during the 40-day transport period around the traditional Spring Festival, increasing by 11.4 percent, revealed the CAAC's figures.
A related official with CAAC noted that the industry has met the social demand for air service in the Spring Transport Season, thanks to the CAAC's special policy of encouraging domestic airlines to adjust their flights based on real-time market conditions.
The railway departments carried 126 million passengers during the period, 1.1 million passengers less than the same period last year.
The highway transport departments saw the passenger volume increase by 5.1 percent to reach a record 1.53 billion during the period.
