Toshiba of Japan recently laid the foundations for the world's largest notebook computer production base in Hangzhou, the capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.
The project is located in the Zhejiang Hangzhou Export Processing Zone.
The Japanese giant will invest seven billion yen in the projectwhich is expected to be completed by next April.
In the first year, it will manufacture 750,000 laptops, and by 2004, the output will be increased to 2.4 million, according to Toshiba sources.
