Wine consumption in China is still in its preliminary stages, and international cooperation is welcome to further tap the huge market potential in China, a Chinese wine specialist said Sunday.
Geng Zhaolin, a senior executive of the China Vintage Industry Association, made these remarks during an international seminar on grapes and wine held in Yantai, a port city in east China's Shandong Province.
More than 200 Chinese and foreign wine specialists and entrepreneurs attended the seminar, including Office International De La Vigne et du Vin (OIV) president Georges Dutruc-Rosset.
The seminar is jointly sponsored by OIV, the Vintage Industry Association and the Yantai Municipal Government. According to the organizing committee, the seminar aims to boost exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign winemaking industries.
