Construction of a fluorocarbon lacquer plant, which is said to be the largest in Asia, began Monday in the port city of Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Costing about 200 million yuan (24.09 million US dollars), the Dalian Zhenbang Fluorocarbon Lacquer Production Base is expected to go into operation by the end of 2003.
The project is designed to produce 10,000 tons of fluorocarbon lacquer annually, generating one billion yuan (120 million US dollars) of sales volume, said Zhang Guozhong, general manager of Dalian Zhenbang Fluoropaint Co., Ltd.
Fluorocarbon lacquer is a kind of high quality paint which can outperform almost all other kinds of coating materials.
The company developed the technology to produce this kind of paint independently, making China the third country in the world to produce fluorocarbon lacquer after the United States and Japan
