Zhuhai City of south China's Guangdong Province exported US$3.48 billion worth of machinery and electronic commodities in the first 11 months of the year, up 46.8 percent from the same period last year.
Exported machinery and electronic commodities made up 75.1 percent of the city's total exports, said local customs sources.
Overseas-financed businesses played an important role in boosting this southern Chinese city's machinery and electronic commodity exports, said the sources.
The drastic rise in Zhuhai's machinery and electronic commodity exports is considered to be a result of the influx of international capital and technology into the city, said a local foreign trade official.
In the meantime, growing numbers of multinationals are choosing Zhuhai as one of their global manufacturing bases for machinery and electronics.
The city's exports of machinery and electronic commodities are expected to hit US$4 billion this year.
Zhuhai, the nearest Chinese mainland city to the Special Autonomous Region of Macao, is also one of the country's five special economic zones.
