Beijing to Purchase More Network Computers
The Beijing municipal government will give priority to network computer purchases in its procurement plan this year, said government officials.

Many of the computers would be used for some 130 programs in education, public security, taxation, e-government and projects toprovide assistance to Tibet and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions, said Xing Shaojun, a senior official from the Beijing planning and development commission.

The purchase plan would also cover 5,000 network computers in some 100 classrooms for elementary and middle schools in Beijing suburbs, said Yin Shulin, an official in charge of the procurementplan.

The purchase would be made through a public tendering process. The minimum requirements for the computers are 400 megahertz CPU, 100 mbps network adapter, and multimedia interfaces.
