The Third Beijing International Music Festival was unveiled Tuesday night at the Music Hall at Zhongshan Park in central Beijing.
About 1,000 musicians from the United States, Hungary, Italy, Poland and other parts of the world gathered at the festival, which lasts 25 days.
Among the audience at the opening ceremony were Jia Qinglin, a member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, State Councilor Wu Yi, and Mayor of Beijing Liu Qi.
