The Red Cross Society of China donated about 3 million US dollars and materials worth US$2 million to 53 disaster-effected countries in the last five years, China Radio International reported Wednesday. At the ongoing national congress of the society, Vice President of the China Red Cross Wang Lizhong says the society is always actively involved in activities organized by the International Red Cross.
It has successfully introduced 17 cooperation projects valued at 78 million yuan, or nine million dollars, for the western areas of China through multilateral cooperation.
The Red Cross society also has participated in almost all large disaster relief work in the country.
During past five years, it provided aid to more than 56 million people in disaster-hit regions throughout the country.
