Fourteen people have been killed and another three wounded by a gas leak in a coal mine in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The accident, in the Yibin Area, occurred at 1:40 AM on Sunday when gas suddenly came out from the township-run coal mine which has an annual output of thirty thousand tons.

Local officials have rushed to the site to investigate the accident.
