The death toll of the traffic accident that happened Monday in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region rose to ten while the 21 injured are still hospitalized, said a local source.
The accident took place at 3:30 p.m., Monday, when a Dongfeng truck, carrying 33 people including three drivers, overturned off the road in Gongbo'gyamda County of the Linzhi Prefecture.
Six people died at the scene and four others died in the local hospital as of Wednesday morning. The preliminary investigation shows that the accident may have been caused by a combination of speeding, overloading and malfunction of the vehicle. The driver of the truck has been detained. The local government is busy dealing with the aftermath work including identity confirmation and compensation.
