Dismembered Body Case Cracked

A dismembered body case, which happened in Nanshan District in late April, was cracked by police recently, the Daily Sunshine reported Sunday.

Two suspects, one surnamed Gao, 22, and the other surnamed Li, 22, were arrested April 28 in Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang Province.

On April 22, staff on a No. 36 bus found a large canvas suitcase left on the bus.

A security guard found human body parts inside when he opened the suitcase and scared bus staff immediately reported it to police.

Another two dark suitcases containing body parts were found on lawns near the Konka Group and Windows of the World in Nanshan District on April 24 while the first discovery was being investigated.

The municipal public security bureau immediately asked a 40-member special group to investigate the case. The group searched streets along the routes of bus No. 36 for clues. The police discovered that a 22-year-old man surnamed Yu in Tanglang Village had been missing for several days.

Yu's father, a supermarket owner, confirmed some similarities between his son and the body parts. Forensic testing confirmed suspicions very soon afterwards.

The group started to search suspects from Yu's relatives and friends, and finally focused on one of his friends, Gao.

Gao, a former employee of the supermarket owned by Yu’s father, had borrowed money from relatives and gone to Wenzhou after Yu died.

The Shenzhen police cooperated with local police to arrest Gao and another suspect, Li, in Wenzhou.

Gao said he and Yu were classmates from 2000 and Gao's friend, Li, befriended Yu in March 2005. Gao admitted he and Li decided to kidnap Yu and ask money from Yu's family for a ransom.

Gao also admitted that he and Li invited Yu for a drink April 21. Police say Gao admitted that the pair murdered Yu after he got drunk. The two dismembered Yu and left parts at six different places in Nanshan District.

The police found other parts of Yu's body and necessary evidences according to their testimony.

The case was still under investigation.
