Landslide Kills One, Injures Five in Jiangxi

Landslide triggered by typhoon Talim has killed one person, injured five and left 15 missing in the Lushan Mountain area of Jiujiang City in Jiangxi Province, local officials said Saturday.

Two houses on the foot of the scenic Lushan Mountain were destroyed by a landslide at 10:00 p.m. Friday, with 11 people buried. Local police excavated five by 5:20 a.m. Saturday, one of whom was dead, and the other five were slightly injured.

The police has kept on the rescue work, trying to find the five missing persons.

Strong downpours caused by Typhoon Talim have inundated parts of Jiujiang City, about 20 kilometers from Lushan Mountain, and about 200 people were evacuated.
