The International Council for Science will organize a plenary conference from Oct. 18 to 22 in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, which is expected to be attended by more than 220 renowned scientists from 62 countries.
Cheng Donghong, a ranking official with the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), said the council will discuss its own development strategy for international scientific cooperation during the conference.
Meanwhile, Cheng said her association will jointly organize a scientific forum in Shanghai for improving public scientific awareness.
Other events will include public science exhibitions, symposia for technological innovation and discussions for scientific knowledge dissemination.
The CAST has organized a strong team to attend the conference.
The International Council for Science was renamed from the International Council of Scientific Unions, which sprouted from the International Research Council founded in 1931 in Brussels.
