China's proposal for global public sanitation has been passed by the 60th United Nations General Assembly.
The proposal pointed out the harm diseases such as AIDS, SARS and bird flu has brought on people's lives and stressed the importance of the development of a proper sanitation system.
It also called for international cooperation on this field.
Chinese deputy envoy to the UN Zhang Yishan said it is only with the joint efforts of UN member countries that an economically sustainable world can be set up.
At his address to the assembly, Zhang introduced the plans of the Chinese government to improve its sanitation conditions.
