Two migrant workers were confirmed dead when a privately-run oil workshop was blown up and caught fire in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, the local production safety watchdog said Tuesday.
The accident was reported at around 5:30 AM Monday, merely 12 hours after the workshop started operation, said officials with Wuhan municipal work safety supervision bureau.
Investigators say the workshop, located on a private pig farm in Hongjun village, did not met safety standards without legal approval for production.
Chen Chao, owner of the tiny refinery, leased part of a villager's pig farm on Nov. 28 to make machine and diesel oil by heating up waste oil.
Further investigation is going on.
