Hong Kong customs Monday seized a huge number of memory sticks of forged trademark worth 1.03 million HK dollars (US$132,989).

The 535 memory sticks were found on a man when he entered the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China through one check point connecting the southeastern Chinese city of Shenzhen.

Investigation showed that the memory sticks were intended to be transported through Hong Kong to Thailand, said a press release issued by the HKSAR government.

The 26-year-old man was arrested after police found the memory sticks in his rucksack.

He will be charged with "importing goods to which a false trade description was applied."

Importing goods to which a false trade description is applied is a serious offense, according to the law of Hong Kong. The maximum penalty is five years' imprisonment and a fine of 500,000 HK dollars (about US$64,557).
