A bus accident killed six persons and injured four others on an freeway in east China's Fujian Province Tuesday afternoon, local authorities said.

The accident happened at about 2 PM when the bus ran into the guardrail of the freeway near the Shaowu City of Fujian, local traffic police said.

Six people were killed on the spot, and four others were injured and have been rushed to local hospital, police said.

The bus was driving from Fuzhou City of east China's Jiangxi Province to Jinjiang City of Fujian with 47 passengers aboard whenthe accident occurred, police said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
