An earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted sea waters near northeast ofTaiwan at about 15:00 PM Hong Kong time (0700 GMT) on Wednesday.

According to Hong Kong local media, the epicenter was located at about 5 km beneath sea bed near Suao of Ilan County in Taiwan.

There were no immediate reports of casualty or damage.
