China's top legislature is going to launch an inspection on the enforcement of the Law on Judges and Law on Procurators in 10 provinces and regions to promote judicial justice.

An inspection team, headed by Gu Xiulian, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), will travel to five provinces and regions in the coming month, according to the first session of the team opened on Thursday.

The national team has authorized the standing committees of provincial people's congresses of five provinces and regions to make the same inspection in their own territories.

The inspection teams will examine how the judges and procurators have fulfilled their jobs and the punishment and awarding schemes they have used.

The team will also keep an eye on problems in the implementation of the two laws and seek for solutions, said Gu.

A report will be delivered by the team to the NPC Standing Committee in August on the enforcement of the two laws in the 10 provinces and regions.

Top legislator Wu Bangguo said the quality of judges and procurators directly relates to the quality of cases investigated, and further relates to social harmony.

He hoped the inspection would promote the integrity and professional competence of local judges and procurators so that justice and fairness of society can be maintained.
