A gas leak forced more than 2,000 residents to flee their homes in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, on Wednesday night.

A gas main in an old residential complex burst, rescuers said. The city rushed nearly 10 fire engines to the scene and stopped the leak an hour later.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
