Heavy fog delayed the departure of more than 80 flights from the Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday.

An airport official said the heavy fog prevented take-offs and landings beginning from 2 AM on Tuesday.

He didn't say how many passengers were affected but added emergency plans were initiated and extra staff were added.

Flights resumed at 8:05 AM.
