The People's Bank of China said on Monday it would issue a set of commemorative coins for the country's new-generation fighter aircraft, the Jian-10 (Fighter-10), on May 29.
The issuance comprises 10,000 gold coins, with a face value of 150 yuan (US$19.5) each, and 20,000 silver coins, with a face value of 10 yuan each.
The coins are produced by Shenzhen Guobao Mint and will be distributed by China Gold Coin Inc.
China unveiled the Jian-10 in January this year. Its basic design and onboard equipment are believed to be comparable to those of mainstream fighter aircraft in the West.
