Starting from June 6, all second-hand bicycle vendor stores in Beijing will have to register themselves with the local Industry and Business Administration Bureau, Beijing Times reported on Wednesday.
According to a new regulation on the second-hand bicycle business issued on Tuesday, all vendor stores should have a fixed trading place and warehouse. They should make clear the source of the second-hand bike before purchasing it, checking the seller's ID card as well as the original papers for the bicycle.
In the case of original sales evidence being missed, the store should keep a record of the seller's ID card, as well as any other defining information.
The regulation also stipulates that the buyers of second-hand bicycles should also provide their real names and contact details to the vendor.
Currently, there are over 200 second-hand bicycle trading stores in the city.
